For most, the year transitions on New Years. For me it has always been around my birthday. My birthday is my ‘New Year’. I guess it is true what they say: Another year older, Another year wiser. I see it as the perfect time to reflect on the year that was.
[side note: I’ve been looking for that moment to ‘trigger’ of my blog. The universe answered me yesterday by landing on the the blog of Technology Journalist – Nafisa]
Nafisa does an annual end of year ’25 questions of the year that was’. As a 1st time blogger I have turned it down to ’15 questions of the year that was’ (birthday to birthday). With a few amendments to the questions, I hope to implement this as an annual feature in my blog.
Lets Get Straight into it
- Experienced my first birthday away from my hubby since marriage
- Lived through a pandemic
- Started my business
- Contracted covid-19
I have a list of things I would like to do and achieve. One of them is to get comfortable with blogging. Many times I have pushed for things I wanted when the timing never felt right. I have learnt to listen to my instincts.
With the hubby and a plate of soul warming indian food #indianatheart plus ice cream. There must always be ice cream.
Funny enough, Hubby and I said we would spend more time exploring our beautiful country. Be careful of what you wish for, for it may come true! I did the Whale Trail in December with 11 other amazing ladies. It was my first multi-day hike and I loved every minute of it. (Whale Trail blog post is on my ‘to-do’ list)
My uncle returned to Allah on 25 January 2021. I’ve never experienced loss of a loved one before his passing. He played a tremendous role in my life. From time to time you will see me share parts of his life on my profile. I may do a whole blog post on him.
Taking time off to find myself and get closer to my Lord before starting my business.
The cinnabons didn’t turn out as good as it looked. LOL #dontfollowtrends

HGTV’s “Hidden Potential” by Jasmine Roth. I love her design style and special surprise projects she adds for her clients based on their needs.
Confession – I am a lazy reader. Started and currently reading:
It was a midweek. I was at my parents in Ladysmith. Not much to do in a small town. Ordered myself a cake. Had tea and cake with my parents, aunt and uncle (dads sister and husband).
All the ladies from the Whale Trail hike. They say you only know a person when you live with them or travel with them. Even though I knew most, we truly bonded and got to know each other. Laughter and memory was created to last a lifetime.
Don’t question your mother instincts.
What Allah (God) has destined for you will be.
Look for the positive in EVERY situation, you will find it.
